Caning

Types of Chair Seat Caning and Weaving:

Caning:

The true caning involves a thin piece of cane (rattan palm) that is woven through holes drilled along the sides of the seat.

In order to determine how many holes your chair has, flip the chair over and you will be able to dee the drilled holes underneath with the cane passing through the holes.

Pricing for caning:

The price is charged by the hole: $2.25 per hole, plus the cost of the material.

A regular chair (about 12 inches by 12 inches) will typically have 60-70 holes and may use approximately $20 to $30 worth of material.
